Residential students and students commuting to campus for in-person classes during the spring 2021 semester must complete the Return to Campus COVID Awareness online training by January 21, 2021. Students who are required to take the training can access it on Blackboard. The training includes information about COVID-19, UMBC’s community safety measures, the role of students in supporting a healthy environment for all, and support services for students. The training is optional for students who are taking a fully online class schedule, but want to learn more about COVID-19 and health and safety practices.
Retriever Community Agreement
At the end of the online educational module, students are required to sign the Retriever Community Agreement, making a personal commitment to precautions and actions required for students living and studying on campus to minimize the potential spread of COVID-19.
Note: If you were approved to be on campus during the fall 2020 semester and have already completed this training and signed the Retriever Community Agreement, you do not need to do so again.
Code of Student Conduct Addendum
An addendum to the UMBC Code of Student Conduct with COVID-19 Emergency Community Rules will be applicable to all UMBC students and will be in effect until further notice. The Addendum to the Code of Student Conduct and the Addendum to the Code of Student Organization Conduct are located on UMBC’s Student Conduct and Community Standards page.
Please note that we have continued to update the Addendum to the UMBC Code of Student Conduct as the University makes decisions based on the most up-to-date public health information. We recommend that all students take a moment to review this document prior to the start of the spring semester.
Faculty and staff requirement
All faculty and staff approved to be on campus are required to complete an online health and safety training module prior to coming to campus. Those who have not yet done so should visit blackboard.umbc.edu and click on “Organizations,” then “Return to Campus,” to access the training. If you have difficulty accessing the training module, please contact email@example.com.
