On-Campus Study Spaces
UMBC has designated three study spaces for commuting students who require a place to work between multiple classes. These spaces include:
- University Center 310
- University Center 312
- Engineering Atrium
If you need assistance locating these rooms on campus, please see our Campus Maps. Please note that to protect campus health and safety these spaces are only for use by students approved to be on campus to attend in-person class sessions.
Virtual Study Spaces & Best Practices
UMBC looks forward to a time when we can safely open our facilities to all community members. At the present time, UMBC is required to limit access to our buildings to those students, faculty, and staff who must be on campus to do their work or attend in-person classes. In the meantime, please check out these services we offer to help students create a better study environment:
- The Library has created virtual study spaces for students.
- The Academic Success Center has created videos to help students study effectively (Study Environment is addressed at minute 3), to manage their study time, with a module with tips for how to set up a study environment.
- The Academic Success Center offers tutoring for many courses. A tutoring appointment may be helpful as a way to focus.
In addition, you might consider buying headphones with a microphone that will work with your computer to help reduce background noise.
